DIY Halloween Costume

Its that time of year again...yep Halloween. I know I can't believe it either! I'm here to show you how to get your sexy on with the cutest costume you can find or create! If your like me, you don't want to be caught in the same costume another girl is wearing.  That's why I am all about creating your own. For several years, I have avoided all the chain Halloween stores with all the last minute shoppers crowded in a tiny rented space. Oh gosh, im getting closterphobic just thinking about it! Don't be that last minute shopper! PLAN AHEAD AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE BE ORIGINAL! I have compiled a list of my personal favs from my collection. All for that #bombshellonabudget and #diy girl.

This special piece is my costume for Halloween 2013. I'm super pumped to wear it Thursday. I created this look by pairing a corset from my own closet and made this tutu myself with some tulle I bought at Hancock Fabric Paired with a tiara from my closet and silver glitter pumps, I'll be shimmering when the limo picks us up.

Last year I dressed up as a hula girl. In my opinion is one of my best buys of my life! Seriously... I bought this entire look at the.... drumroll please... THE DOLLAR TREE. Yeah the store where everything's a dollar!!!! I like choices so I bought the floral bikini top and the coconut bra top. Both are a great costume look. You can layer as many lei's as you like to complete the look. I also purchased wrist and ankle lei's and tropical floral hair accessories to go with.

Next we have a belly dancing costume. This look cost about $25. I got the pieces from Earth Bound Trading Company , what use to be Romancing the Stone. Super cute paired with a chain head piece. You can shimmy all night in this saucy number.

I haven't gotten to wear this look yet. I have had this leotard for years. I am a trained ballet dancer believe it or not and have had this thing since I was in junior high. We won't go into how long that's been:) But I digress... I invision this leotard bejeweled from top to bottom, back to front. I would have illustrated it for you, but I got a full time gig you guys! lol. I bought these butterfly wings at the Dollar Tree once again for a smashing $1 whole dolla. Another cute costume on the low low

This last costume was my second choice to wear this Thursday. Its my little mermaid get up. I picked the fabric up at Hancock Fabric for about $6 dollars. I bought the turquoise bra from TJ Maxx for $5 and bejeweled it with stones purchased from Hobby Lobby for $7. I have a ton of the stones left for future craft projects. I simply took my waist and waist to height measurements, cut the fabric to fit and sewed the seam. I have a cute headpiece I created with pieces from Hobby Lobby such as a starfish and seashells to complete the look.

You don't have to break the bank on a costume to be unforgettable this Halloween. As you can see I recommend pulling pieces from your closet and building an outfit around that. Or find pieces from your local thrift stores or even the Dollar Tree. All the girls will be envious of your sexy costume and every guy will be breaking his neck to see what your working with:) Be safe and drink responsibly:)

Peace, Love
Erin
